As one of halal tourism destination, Aceh has many historical sites that can be visited by the tourists. Before Islam come, the majority of civilization in sumatra is Hindu, an one of the remains from the Hindu is fort. Fort is one of three forts that became a milestone of the triangle region of the Hindu kingdom of Aceh, namely Indra Patra, Indra Puri and Indra Purwa. Indra Patra is an old fortress located in Ladong village, Aceh Besar Regency, Aceh Province, Indonesia. It was built during the reign of Sultan Iskandar Muda (1583? - 1636).
This ford is located in Ladong village, Aceh Besar. If you want to come to this place, you can take public transportation in Aceh that called Labi-labi to Krueng Raya. However you can also use a private vehicle, is located only 20 minutes away or approximately 20 km from the city of Banda Aceh. Positioned by the beach this tourism object is very good for photography. There is the green grass, historical buildings, situated by the beach, nice and quiet, classic swings hang on big tree, and scenic hills. There are four pieces fort can be observed here but only two pieces that remain Good, the other two forts are destroyed. those forts are formed as if to protect the Gulf of Krueng Raya from Foreign fleets that want to enter the kingdom of Aceh.
The design of the building looks Outstanding and sophisticated for that era because to reach into the fort you must climb the wall, so it makes the enemy hard to get into it. In the main castle, you can see there are four pieces stufa that are located inside the main castle which are resembles to a dome also there are wells in it. These wells formerly used for ablutions for Hindus in a series of worship. In the main castle building there is also a place of worship that is located right in the center of the castle. In the second fort, you can observe the three bunker defense. The first bunker located in the center of the castle serves as a repository for bullets and guns. Two other bunkers in front of the castle building is where the cannon located. Around the wall you will see there are 9 a holes where the army put cannons. You can also see 11 pieces of small holes that serve as a watch holes but those hole has been covered with cement when remodeling. Around the fort you can find small river although now it is look like small river but it was once used to protect the castle from the attack of the enemies that come from land.
This site is one of historical sites in Aceh that we should protect and take care of it. Large area and there is a lot of potential to empower this site to be one of landmark of Aceh Besar, but unfortunately the government and the civilization around this site are not aware of this, and the fortress are abandoned. Inside the small fort you can see there are many rubbish and there are no grass at all, also the entranceway to the fortress seem so bad and this site look like is not well-taken care. Close to the fort there is a beach and many bungalow on the shoreline, but again the condition is not better than the fortress. We really hope for the government and the people who arrange the policy to pay attention to this site, because there are many great potential for this site to be one of popular site in Aceh Halal Tourism.
